Default No bar controls

Thanks 2of2 but I have no bar controls or a radio at that. But it would be nice to have them if I am going to install the radio. I have seen some after market bar controls though.............I don't know maybe the ole lady will take the hint I gave her shortly after I picked up the bike and I'll have one under the tree this year.

I thought the EGS came with controls from the factory. I never heard of one without them. In fact mine are integrated with the other controls.

Wow, so the EGS comes with all the radio controls standard, the fairing is easy to remove, the speakers are nothing to mount, mounting the radio sounds easy, and it's all plug and play, no splicing/cutting of wires or crimping connectors, not even for the speakers? And save about half or more over the H-K radio from Harley?
Holy moly, sounds like something even I could do. Why would any EGS owner go to the dealer for a radio and installation, other than you just had to have the official Harley radio? And even if you preferred to have a local wrench do it for you, you'd still save mucho $$$. Sound like a winning formula to me

All that, and from what I am told, much better sound!
Yes, the kit comes with speaker wire adapters to go from the factory wires to the speakers. Again, just plug them in.

Just a suggetsion. If you're not going to add more gauges, you can use the cut-outs to install tweeters. This will give you 4 speakers and elimiate the need for an amp. If you do this, make sure you install filters on the tweeters.

I have an '04 police model EG and rode it for six months without a radio; then added a radio w/o handlebar controls for about a year; then, added handlebar controls of the radio about two years ago replicating the civilian EG's Base Audio Connector (it's described in the wiring diagrams of the HD Police Model Service Manual supplement) for use with the Biketronics interface module. Having the handlebar controls is very convenient and safer, at least for me.

Biketronics has recently added an audio controls switch kit for use on the police model EG's, but I haven't seen it or seen any reviews. But if Biketronics offers it, I'd trust that it does what it's supposed to do.

Depending on what you want to do with your bike, such as adding the oil pressure gauge, handlebar controls of the radio, cruise control, etc., you might be better off simply swapping the interconnect harnesses by replacing the police interconnect harness with the civilian interconnect harness. Not being familiar with the '08 police or civilian wiring on the '08's, I have no recommendation as to how much easier the wiring will be having the civilian harness on the bike. But it would be worth checking out beforehand.

20f2 - Does the unit you bought play MP3 discs? If it does then you can burn 100+ songs at a high sound quality on each disc. I'm looking at doing the same thing you did sometime next year. I'm glad it's an easy deal to do!
