It's never enough for the Motos!!! Most of us SGS riders can agree that bag space is almost as important as gasoline. I gave up the space inside the bags for the 692s but that was the line in the sand. Had to find a quality amp that would fit under the hood thus the NVX. I have a BT4180 and NVX MVP A4 sitting side by side in the amp tray like it was meant to be.
Plenty of options available if amp juice and space available are not conflicting, but in my case I found that perfect combo that kept me within my functionality sandbox.

T,
The only thing that I said when I started down the fantasy road of having great audio, was that I would not give up bag space or lose the factory look of the system. I would love more bass, but I will not put them in the bags. I think I will order a set of Moto 692's and give them a shot. What's the worst that happens? I hate them and put the Focal's back in the bags? I've lost more money on dumber things in the past...

Thanks,
Pete

Totally picking up what ur laying down. I had the same hard line in the sand until I had a beer with Haze in Miami and heard the difference the bags can offer.
It also goes back to what Gan has stated time and again, "more speakers is always better."
If ur missing something significant from your current set-up like bass you are not going to make dramatic improvements when switching out speakers in the same general tier. U will indeed hear a small difference and u r correct in that the 692s may just get u what u r looking for, but it won't be an earth shattering improvement. Just my honest opinion based on the number of speaks I jammed in the lids during this perpetual audio unicorn hunt.
The 692s are a damn good speaker, and I hope they deliver exactly what u r looking for!!!
Make sure u buy them from LL or other Forum sources as the price difference is huge.

Sounds good, but it's hard to hear real clarity on FM. Next time use a USB and play some tunes on that. Playing high volume from Sat or FM probably isn't the best for our speakers because of the compression and distortion caused by the signal.

T,
There are a few things that I will need to "get past" personally if I am going to cut holes in my bags.
1) My paint set is one of the limited edition sets from HD. If I screw them up I can not get another set
2) I need to get past the loss of luggage space. How about a few picts of inside your bags.
Now that I am typing this, I am thinking that I can buy a set of Moto 692's and try them in place of the 570's IF if really don't like the sound I can either swap back OR that is when I can install them in the side of the bags. Oh, then I order another amp.(actually 2 and do what Haze has suggested).
Oh and by the way today I thought I caught that unicorn, then I realized it was just a glitter farting zebra........

The Moto 692's can produce some really nice bass as we can hear from T's videos. Several folks here have installed the 692's running them off the BT amp and were disappointed in the lack of bass others like T was getting when connected to the NVX MVP A4 amp. The Moto 692's and BT amp are just not a good combination if you are looking for good bass.

Thanks for the advise, Haze and I have gone back and forth multiple times on this also and I think that I may be going his route. That would include another amp to bridge to the motors. Now I'm seriously considering leaving the 5x7's and adding the 692's in the bags but that's a big step for me.

Thanks,

At least for me, after i drill all the holes for the 6x9's in the bags, u could def see the holes from behind the bike. As well as a couple bolt heads to hold the speakers. The stock rear fender fascia did not come back far enough to hide them. Something to keep in mind.

Below are pics of my slightly corralled unicorn.

Don't worry about the bag paint. Very hard to screw this install up. Get a step drill bit, painters tape, and a sharpie.

As for the space in the bags, very hard to give up indeed. I just pack smarter to make of for the minor space that I gave up.

Pete, I'm just throwing out options here. Life is about managing expectations. There are guys that throw 2 speaker systems in there sleds and have hit the lottery. Others drop 4 in and consider it beyond belief regarding cycle audio.
You and I threw 4 in and still had an itch that needs scratching. Try the 692s with expectations managed as these could be the end of your audio rainbow. If not, you have options.
This shix is damn fun and even more rewarding to tinker with. Enjoy the ride!!!!
