Yes, amps don't like moisture. Even the marine stuff does not like it a bunch so if you can avoid it, take the extra steps to protect ur stuff from exposure to direct contact with water.
just wondering if maybe putting plastic on top of the amp might help
Think ur better off changing your washing habits, but I'm certain that if there is a will to provide some waterproofing protection, there is always a way.
that amp has been used on HD's since 2008 at least. If you have water leaking into your fairing you should consider that first, perhaps some additional weather stripping.
I used 2" clear packing tape over mine. I did fold one edge so I could take it off and on without having to find the edge. Had it on the bike for over a year with no problems. It's now in my boat running 2 6x9's.
I put a 99 cent plastic place mat from the grocery store over my amp, trimmed to follow the inner fairing curves. Now my fairing and vent can leak and nothing will get wet. Going to do the same over each speaker and overlap the amp mat. Shouldn't cause any extra heat problems just act like an umbrella. Now anything that blows in from under is another story. I'll take pics next time my lid is off.
