Running hertz hcx 165s in fairing with tm400 amp. My question is should I port my pods and if so what size hole? Just 1 in each? Will it make it any louder or what will it do to help? Thanks
I've never bothered venting(I assume this is what you mean, not porting) the pods with a coax. I've only done it with higher powered midbass drivers like Hertz, DS18, DD, ect. that create alot of pressure and cause the pods to flex. And yes, there is a difference in sound because of it.

When I was using the pods, I drilled about 6 holes in each pod that were about 3/8" for some basic ventilation. Seemed to help, but not earth shattering.

Since mine did not have the pods come stock I had been searching for a hole pattern template and ran across these. Wondered how popular or effective they actually were.
I had my system installed by SoundzCustomz last year. I talked to him about porting, adapters, etc. and he felt the best sounds still came from the speaker pods in stock form.

The the speakers you were having installed probably had a big influence on his statement.

That is probably very true. He was installing KRC165's. He did have to modify the pods so the speakers fit inside. I wish the pods were made to fit more speakers without modification. The Moto 602's supposedly fit just fine.
