Default How to troubleshoot

A couple of weeks ago I developed a problem with my system. The audio became intermittent, but if I turned the volume down low it would return, and if I shut the ignition down the audio would return at volume for a short time but would then go back to being intermittent regardless of the source (BT, CD, USB, ect.). I suspected it was the amp and replaced it with the SS PN4-1000D. Had it in for less than a week and my trouble has returned. I check my speaker impedance and had 1.9 on one channel and 3.6 on the other (one channel has 2 sets of 4 ohm speakers in parallel, the other has BT 7.1's). If it makes any difference, my system consists of a Sony MEX head unit, a Biketronics hand control module, the PN$-1000D amp, Pioneers TS 6902's and Biketronics 6.5's in parallel and Biketronics 7.1 non pro's in the fairing. I don't know how to troubleshoot an amp, and it seems suspicious that two amp would fail within a weeks time. I have a VOM, but I don't know what any readings should be. How would you troubleshoot this problem?

How are you checking speaker impedance, across + & - on each speaker?
On a 4ohm speaker the 1.9 is to low and could cause the amp to cut out.
How's the battery? A week batter could do the same.

John....I don't think it's the amp or the speakers. If you power comes back when you lower the volume, and you mentioned in the other thread you had to raise the gains higher this time around this could be power related. Not enough power going into the amp to maintain the higher volume so it cuts out. Yes, check your battery....check connections too, could be something as easy. Also your voltage regulator. can you replicate this in your garage? Take a reading and see what the volts are at the amp when it cuts out.
