Looking to upgrade the factory speakers on the RGU I picked up last Friday and wondering what brands most would suggest. I'm not sure yet on whether or not I'm going with an amp or not. Probably will have 1 in the future though. Thanks.

Do some research on the site and when you narrow it down just a tad, come back and define the sandbox a bit and also provide as much info as u possibly can about your current and future goals, to include budget. Until that point, ur gonna get what Joey, Jimmy, Johnny, Jerry, and Stevey want and not what your ears, budget, riding style, and genre desire wants.
BTW, if ur not going to add an amp in the initial bite, I would not waste your time. Just trying to help u from wasting ur time and hard earned cash.
I'd agree with tailwind, if you're not going to add an amp, not going to make much difference. With that being said, the HD head unit is a 2 ohm system, therefore, I would say you would need 2 ohm speakers. Kappas are 2 ohm and will handle an amp when you do put one in. You need 1/2" spacers with the Kappas in the rear pods. They run about $130 a pair on Amazon. You could try putting them in and then do a factory reset on the radio and see what that gives you. It made all the difference with mine but I put in an amp.
100% agree with tailwind on this! You really have to do some research on this b4 you bite. Everyone has the sound they like to hear and everyone will tell you what sounds best.. to them.. but look on here.. do some research.. youtube.. google.. everything you can till you can narrow it down to a couple speakers.. and also gotta figure out how much you want to spend. In bike audio.. the most expensive isn't always the best route! Things that go into this that is actually important.. is type of music ya listen to.. where do you like to ride? More backroads or more highway? AND most importantly.. you will definitely want to get an amp! IF you cant afford one.. wait till you can! Good luck!
i get the whole research, looking and so on. Been doing lots of that already, but thanks for the 4 replies that say I need to do that. What I'm trying to find out is what speakers seem to perform well and don't kill the bank? I've been looking at biketronics, fosgate, hog tunes and others. Amps from the same companies. Trying to determine the whole flash issue, line levelers or if any of that is even needed.
Lots of info to decipher between the brands. My original question was more of a what product to look at and what product to avoid as I go through this process.
Based on the speakers you mentioned above, I would personally scratch all three from the list.

Then what would your suggestion be? What have you had good luck with? I'm also looking at focal and hertz. Just a blanket I'd scratch those does absolutely no good to me or anyone else who might be looking.

Bro, I'm trying to help here but help me help u! We have no idea what ur sandbox looks like.
I am running Focal KRXK2 in the fairing. They are about 700 bucks for the old model. 1200 bucks for the current model. Buy the current model!!!
U picking up what I'm laying down?
Provide some basic info and we can assists with speaks and amps that will fit your parameters. Budget? Type of music, 4 speaks? Possibly 6?Lowers? TP Pods? Lids? Loud as hell? Warm? Bass?
We really r trying to help but if u don't define a few core things ur gonna get the same response.

Budget is a non factor, I'm doing this once and done. I listen to all types of music, 70's/80's rock, country, you name it. I'm really only planning on 4 speakers but lowers could be a possibility at a later time. I'll run the 2 fairing speakers and the rear TP pod speakers. Don't need loud as hell, but want a good clean sound at highway speeds and around traffic.
