I removed the fairing to replace the RCA cables and noticed this: See pic 1, the gouges are .030 deep.
I believe they were caused by this: See pic 2 below
So I rerouted the harness and speaker wire connector: See pic 3
Then applied tape to the inside of the outer fairing; pic 4. The good news is the fairing now fits into place very easily. I will remove it in a week or two and check to see if the is any rubbing/riding marks on the tape. Just a heads up for anyone who might have a similar install.
You ever pull the fairing back off? I pulled mine last night for the first time since my installation. I have the same 2 gouges in my Dynamat lined fairing. It's from the CB mount right near the screw. Needs to be shimmed off the BT speaker bracket a whisker. Which would be a lot easier to do if the screw for the CB bracket to the BT bracket came in from the other direction....

Ya, I fixed it by drilling another hole in the CB bracket to move it more towards the rear. All the time I have had Biketronics involved with the issue. They seemed interested because they had never heard of such a problem, Well apparently they lost interest in the situation, have not heard back in quite awhile.

Now that you mention it, I did the same thing a while back to make more room for wiring. Almost forgot about it.
Have not lost interest - and still on the our list - Not seeing the dings on our 14 TK fairing we did a 'squish' test and it is very close but not interfering. I expect due to tolerances some have and some do not. As such we'll resolve on the next go around of bracket fab.
HB,
I noticed you mounted your CB module off to the side with an aftermarket deck/amp. Is that mounting bracket from HD or aftermarket? Im researching a way to install a CB on my non Ultra CVO RG. Thanks
