Default upgraded speakers only

I'm thinking about upgrading only the stock speakers on my 2016 Street Glide - no amp. I know I won't get a huge improvement but I'm wondering who has done this and what your results were. Thanks.

I would strongly recommend that you take ur time on this project and save your Starbucks money for a while and do the amp and speaker upgrade.
Ur just not going to get any significant gains out of a speaker only modification.

Set ur budget bro and star saving!!!! A few hundred bucks will get u a killer 2 speaker set up w amp.

What Tail said! You will not be happy with just a speaker change. It just doesn't do what you want. Save your money up.
Many of us hoped speakers only might help and did some research. It is almost unanimous...

What they said!!! Does you no good to replace the speakers without an amp. You might as well keep the speakers you have if you're not going in with an amp.

Well speaking as someone who did this to his 15 RGS I'd have to agree with everyone else. Just DONT. I did speakers alone and was disappointed. Then did the Biketronics roadglide kit. Much happier, also have a set of 6.5s extra to go into something else because of me trying to cheap out.

Man.. I have to agree with everyone here so far. I as well tried to do just a new speaker setup in my bike when I first started this fascination with getting some quality sound outta my bike. I was completely unhappy with what it did. So I started with just a small amp and some infinity kappas and I guess you could say it was on from there. Still building and still adding.. I don't think Ill ever be satisfied. Haha Save your money.. get yourself an amp and some decent speakers... I promise you.. you will not regret it!

How does the stock HU sound and respond to an aftermarket amp? I agree with doing everything (did this on my last Ultra) but need to at least get things better without spending bucks I don't have right now on a new HU and Biketronics kit.

Hoping stock HU, CV amp and some Polks I have left from the last bike will get me by for a while.

If you have a Rushmore spend a couple of $$$ and get the BT355 line levelers to flatten the head unit output signal.
But other than that the amp and speakers will work with the stock HU.

I agree with the general consensus here that an amp/s are important. In saying this, in undertaking my upgrade install on my 2015 Ultra Limited I installed a pair of Hertz ESK 165.5's in the fairing and a pair of Infinity Kappa 62.11i's in the tour pack. I thought I had an issue with the amps so I ran the speakers directly off the headend to start with until I corrected the amplifier issue (turned out to be an accessory fuse on the bike). Anyway, I remember thinking how good the system now sounded in comparison to the original OEM speakers (not too hard) however if you are looking at conducting the upgrade in steps this is a possible course of action. Keeping in mind that the Infinity Kappa's have a listed operating range of 5watts to 125watts (they advertise themselves as a general upgrade to OEM car audio systems, to improve sound) and I'm unsure of the Hertz lowest range is, however their RMS is 100watts.
