MB Quart used to be top of the line. They were however acquired by Maxxsonics and are not close to the same quality anymore. Maxxsonics makes a few other brands too which are all low end junk.

This may all be so but I know what my ears heard and it sounded damn good.

If you had owned some of the German Made Q series you would understand. They may have sounded good to you, but to those who ran then when they were some of the best, can and know the difference.

the alpine spr line of speakers is very popular here for bikes and they also offer a marine grade 7" that is getting great reviews on amazon. hook them up to a couple pn4 1000d amps and a decent headunit and let er rip
entire package (less head unit which i assume u already have)around $650 to $700
how much was the bt4180?
I would go with at least a 4 channel amp. When you run 2 - 4 ohm speakers in parallel, the load on the amp becomes 2 ohms. Some amps are not designed to be run at or below below 2 ohms for an extended period or at all. If you ran 4 - 4 ohm drivers in parallel that would be a 1 ohm load and the amp can get hot and shut down in protected mode, produce distorted sound (Clipping) or burn up...literally. I have seen flames come from an amp before, so I am not just talking melted internals, I mean actual fire hazard.

my suggestion for 2 amps was to be able to set gains lower on speakers in cabin. all speakers run off hu, but that channel (pair) would never get as loud as other 3 pair
