Default USB issues

About a year ago I purchased a Reckless Motorcycles fairing for my Heritage. It came with a Sony head unit with a front mounted USB port. I used this with a memory stick loaded with my tunes for about a year with no problems. Then it started having problems... it would just randomly start searching for my music... sometimes it would resume playing and sometimes it would tell me it couldn't find anything. I assumed the USB port had gone bad, and recently replaced the entire unit with a JVC. I made it about 50 miles with this one before I started getting the same messages! Has anybody else had this problem?

Thanks!
Jeff

You never tried a different flash drive?

I haven't had that problem. You could try to re-format the one you have and reload the songs on it, or replace your flash drive. They're dirt cheap now.

I did try a different flash drive with the Sony. I haven't done that yet with the JVC, but I guess I should just to rule that out. However, I've had it plugged into my computer all day at work and it's working fine on it. It's really frustrating, I love being able to plug it in and put it on shuffle and having hours of music to listen to. I will try another flash drive just to be sure, thanks for the suggestion!

You can also try cleaning out the USB port with some electrical cleaner.
