Well I'm downloading the latest HD software update, I'm thinking should I or not?????? Kind of a crap shoot. Anyone else? By the way it's a big one!!!!
Go for it. This update seems to actually fix some issues. I like it. You do know you can always go back but so far so good. It boots much faster and the splash screen self cancels. That to me alon is worth it.
I just updated mine, sitting in the Garage I think I have more volume, I'm most exicted about the NAV updates, some of them sound like they'll be good. I WISH they would upgrade the directions,, If it says exit in 2 miles,, or Exit highway I wish it said Take I-64 East,, or Stay on I-75N ... etc...
What is the process to actually download and install these updates?
Go to the HD Audio software download site. Choose the radio in question and start the download. Once downloaded right click on the zip file and select Extract all. Copy the .iso file to a Fat32 formatted 8gb or larger USB stick. The .iso file should be the only file in the USB stick. Connect the USB stick to the USB port on the bike. Turn the ingnition to Accessory. Click YES to begin the update.
Once the update is installed use the following instructions to preform a reset. Update from BT: I wanted to make it known that we did find one drawback to the Reset procedure where if you have the AUX-in P&A accessory, it will remove the aux source choice from the radio. This will then require a trip to the Dealer to turn on the AUX-in source.
Well I'm thinking I also like the warning leaving by itself, funny I mentioned that to the rep I spoke to, Lucky or coincidental. Seems to have a better sound, might be my imagination.
I did the upgrade. No noticeable change in sound. Aftermarket amp and speakers with BT LL's.
The name of my XM presets all changed to "preview", but the presets were still there. I had to change each one to something else then back to get the name back.
Doesn't seem to load any faster.
I really like the auto zoom on the nav. Very nice feature.
Fav button on the face plate didn't work before and still doesn't.
Strange how people get different opinions on these,, I did my road test today, got to 65 mph and had it 4 bars off max,, it was plenty, I've been running 2 bars off wanting more with the old software,,, who knows what the next person will think. Do I still want more? Hell ya, I'm thinking real hard about selling my BT amp, and doing a couple of Diamond Micro's one for front and one for rears,,, LOL.
