Well let me again say thanks to everyone who assisted me with this problem.
All I can say is I musta' been drunk or something when I wired this up! I had 3 out of 4 speakers wired bassackwards AND I had inadvertently flipped the mode switch to LPF so all I got was bass outta the rear. I've done this a hundred times and shoulda' known better!
Best lesson I can share with others, attention to detail.
And your end results with SQ? Better, worse, worth the time and $$ spent?
Kris
Yes, very much worth the effort (especially if I woulda' done it right the first time) the quality is a lot better. I now have mid and lower bass I never had. I don't feel pressured now to replace the head unit. Probably not as good as a new aftermarket, but a big improvement.
Here's the background.
2013 FLHTCU, stock head unit, Infiniti kappa fairing speakers, Polk mm lower speakers, RZ4-2000d amp. So the sound was loud, and wasn't terrible, but there was something missing, so I decided to add 2 Pac sni-35 line out converters and rca cables. My experience in the past with line out converters is that the sound quality improves greatly. Now that I have these in line the front channel (fairing) are very, very tinnie with the bass way up and treble down and almost no mid or low base. By contrast, the rear (lowers) are almost inaudible and only very low bass even when cranked up. Basically total crap out of all 4 channels.
What did I do to kill this and how can I correct it?
Sturgis,
I am running s stock HU and RZ4 2000D as well. The difference is I have fairing speakers only (BT 7.1 non-pro). Would the line out converters make a difference in this application?
How do they increase SQ? Is it because they allow you to use RCA cables to the amp or does it act like a 4V preamp out?

I believe it would help. As I understand it (and there are lots smarter people here than me) the stock stereo strips out some of the mid bass and lower end sound to try to utilize the internal amp and crappy speakers. The LOC restores the original sound and sends the signal through the rca plugs, which carry a cleaner signal. Don't misunderstand this, your fairing isn't gonna THUMP as you go down the road. There still isn't a lot of bass, but the overall "blend"of sound is better.
Chime in o gurus of all things stereo if I have miss represented the function of the LOC.
