Default Fairing amp protection from water?

With the help from Cam at Badd Azz Bikes, I got a Diamond Audio 500w 2-channel amp installed along with Hertz Mille 6.5 components and a Biketronics line leveler. Separately I purchase the speaker brackets directly from Biketronics. The system sounds pretty amazing compared to pretty much any other bike I've been around to hear.

I got caught in a rain storm on the first ride after installing the system. It was a total down pour. I heard a pop from the speakers and no more audio. After thinking oh F....I hoped that maybe I just blew a fuse. I got to my destination and parked the bike for the evening. Next morning turned the key, crossed my fingers, and wouldn't you know it....I have audio!!!

So...what can I do to protect the amp from water? Has anyone fabricated anything such as a tray that sits atop the amp to direct any water that makes it into the fairing away from the amp? I have to think this same concern has crossed the mind of every person that has an installed an amp. Please share your ideas!!! Thanks

I drilled three holes in the upper inner fairing and zip tied a light piece of flexible rubber mat that drapped down over where an amp usually mounts. Its enough to keep direct water off the unit. it easily flips up to allow room to work.

on an older unit I just used a left over piece of window tint film larger than the amp. used 2 way tape further up on the fairing and draped the film over the amp. this way it wasnt enclosed and what water may enter from the top, the amp was shielded.
