Default Handlbar mounted system

Just picked up a relatively low mile 2001 Road King. Looking to put handlebar mounted speakers and bluetooth receiver/controller so that I can get music from the iPhone.
Have been considering the following: Kuryakyn 2716 Road Thunder bluetooth receiver/controller along with Kuryakyn 2710 Road Thunder speakers. J&P chat rep says that no amp is needed, the the controller will play the audio through the speakers. But I believe the speakers are wired to the controller. Not an issue. http://www.jpcycles.com/product/755-806
I find that MTX makes the Kuryakyn controller. They call it MUDBTRC and sell it cheaper. http://www.crutchfield.com/p_236MUDB...6583465&awdv=c Crutchfield could not tell me if it would even mount to the bars. Their canned information didn't show it to the chat rep. He says that the controller has to plug into an auxiliary plug on an existing head unit, that it won't play directly to a pair of speakers. He advised this product: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_104MCB4...20B-Black.html I'm not sold on that because the photos don't show a way to advance the song or adjust volume. Maybe there's a volume switch on a speaker that isn't pictured.
I installed a Kuryakyn Sound of Chrome outfit on my wife's Deluxe a few years back. She loves it, but I'm not impressed with having to plug the music source into an amp by wire. And all you get is a small amp and the 2 speakers for $360. I think there has to be a better option that has bluetooth and is a little easier on the checkbook. Anyone have any suggestions?

This is the setup I've been looking at. I've seen it on Amazon as low as $350 shipped. It's wired for power, but bluetooth for the audio source.

A possibility, but I wonder if would interfere with the windshield if the bars are sharply turned? Riding season is pretty much done here, except maybe an occasional day here or there. So I've got a lot of time to decide.
Edit: What was I thinking? The windshield turns with the bars. Duh!

The mounts on that one are dual clamps (think brake/clutch cable clamps on your downtubes) so you can rotate it all the way down to your riders if need be.

I've purchased a couple of car stereos from Crutchfield in the past. Usually their chat help is fine, but they recently steered me wrong on an antenna adapter for a Mustang. The more I research this bike system thing, I think they're a little short on info again.
MTX's website shows their MUDBTRC controller has having a clamp mount for bars. It does not need a head unit. Crutchfield said otherwise. The wiring diagram shows it plugging into the amp of a unit like the Boss MCKB420 that I showed above. I'd just have to get a 3.5 mm to RCA adapter per the diagram on MCX's website.
So for now, I think I've got the components picked out and it's a price shopping game. But I'm still open to suggestions here if anyone has gone a different route.

I ordered the following last night, and I'm only in for $180.00 for all of it.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...0?ie=UTF8&th=1
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Reviews are largely good, so we'll give it a shot.

Edit:
OK, so I received the BOSS Audio amp & speaker kit. I think the amp will be a large pain to hide. Pretty sure that I'm going with your suggestion, ssleeper.
But MTX makes that unit for Kuryakyn. You can get the MTX branded unit for $100 less. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...A2QS1MWENZZX2O
I think I'm going this route because it's all self contained. No separate amp to hide, much simpler to install by the look of videos I've seen.

Nice find. I knew MTX made the unit, but even the MTX branded units I'd found were $325+

My wife is wanting something like this for her softail. If you would post some type of review here after you get it I would appreciate it. I like the fact it's all one condensed unit.

My wife rides a Deluxe that I put Kuryakyn Sound of Chrome speaker & amp combo on a few years ago. They're a little pricey, I've seen them selling for around $360 these days. To me it's been kind of a pain because she always had to plug her iPod Shuffle into it and keep the iPod in the windshield bag. As stated earlier, I returned the Boss speaker/amp combo to Amazon. But I kept the MTX Bluetooth receiver/controller that I'd purchased. I wired that to her system and now she has bluetooth capability instead of plugging in a music source. Tried it with my iPhone and it works great. Simple install. Hot wire, ground and then there is either a 3.5mm female plug or a blue wire to tie into your existing amp. Her Kuryakyn amp was set up with a male 3.5mm plug. Plugged it in, powered it up and it worked.
As a side note, Amazon refunded my money as soon as they had notification from UPS that return item had shipped. Without even seeing or inspecting the item. I was impressed.
The new thing is due for delivery Tuesday. It'll probably be Thursday before I get a chance to install it. Will post the results.
