Having a few miller lites on a balmy -13 degree day, contemplating the winter upgrades. Decided on voodoo lids, but which speakers? Has anyone heard the diamond hxm-8? How about the dd vo-m8?
We have used both at the shop in builds. The real question to ask is what do you want out of them? The hxm 8 by diamond audio has amazing sound quality and really good low end response with great highs, however it only a coax speaker so volume will be its limitation compared to the DD vo m8. While the VO M8 is a mid bass only driver you wont get any highs out of it but it will have really good mid bass and be rather loud.
^ Yes Sir. Plus the holes are pre cut, so unless you know the exact cutout of any speaker you would try to add, fitment is questionable. Also no other speakers on the market compared to the 880 in that form.
There are adapters to use a pro 8 or another style 8 in 8.8 lids. that will achieve the same look using 8.8 grills. As far as the 880 being the end all best on the market for that application I would have to disagree....they are amazing but the best speaker for application really depends on what the OP is wanting to achieve.

If you sold JL you would LOL!!. In coax form nothing touches the 8.8.
We do sell JL LOL!!!! Just not when you were looking into it. I like the JL 880s alot I just think depending on application depends what would be best. Also have you heard or tested the HXM 8s ? I would not count the out of the running depending on application that is
I knew I'd need a horn with the DD. I've hard the jl m880, saw the specs on the diamond and made me a lil curious if anyone had some feedback or comparison between them. My boss doesn't like the look of the jl, she's ok with the diamond (maybe just the name).
The 880 will almost assuredly be louder(depending in the amount of availble power) but I must say I am a fan of the HXM 8. In a normal 8 lids the HXM 8 would require some modifying or the mounting ring but in 8.8 lids obviously should be no issue there.
