I'm a former lurker now a member! I have a 2004 RK that I'm installing Woodys audio fairing and Tsukayu wide stretch hard saddles. The fairing holds 4 - 5 1/4 and maybe 5 1/2 speakers and the head unit can be single DIN or a cut to fit any style of unit. the bags will hold anything at about any panel Mount location.
I've read a lot of threads with complete system components but I don't know what would actually work good for my application. I do want a good sounding radio that's loud at speed with Bluetooth and all the other goodies.
I have a pretty good budget between 500 to 600 bucks because I've been riding the same scooter so long. any recommendations on a full system will be greatly appreciated as I'm mechanically inclined but not design or compatibility oriented.
Welcome to the forum Grizz! Tough build with the existing fairing but it can be done within your budget. Firstly you're gonna have to purchase 4 quality 5.25 speakers. My suggestion would be these: https://www.amazon.com/Infinity-Kapp.../dp/B009CW6XWG
Next you will need some bass to compliment the Infinity kappas. The kappa's are loud and clear and you will hear them going down the road at 80 mph but they don't have much bass. To stay within budget my suggestion is to get a set of pioneer pro 6x9's and mount in the saddle bags facing the wheel. https://jet.com/product/detail/39f92...a:2&code=PLA15
Last but not least you will need an amp to drive all of your speakers. Here's the tough part. The Kappa's are 2 ohm speakers and will require a 4 channel amp that is 2 or 4 ohm compatible that will fit in the fairing space you have available. I'm not sure how much space the woody's fairing has up front. I can only go by my experience with the dead center fairings and I was able to squeeze a Cerwin Vega B54 into one of those. At any rate with this set up you're gonna need two amps. A four channel for the Kappa's up front and a amp to drive your 6x9's in the saddle bags. To stay within budget I would go with the soundstream 520.D bridged in the bags. All that said. It would be a less complex set up if you were running a fairing that would accommodate two 6.5 speakers.
This set up by no means is the only way to go. There are several other ways to go. You could go with 4 ohm speakers in the faring and run all of your speakers off one 4 channel amp in parallel. For example you could go with 4 Alpine SPR-50 4 ohm speakers. But honestly I don't think it will sound as good.

Awesome info!! thanks for the tips. I've got a call request into Glenn today to find out what will fit in his fairing. if there is a little higher end option that ya think might work i'm all ears. maybe a 5 channel in the bags and run everything off that.
I started with a Classic as well. Gan, gave great solid advice to get started and has helped me many times with upgrade advice and installation instruction.
The one thing that I regret is the fact that my fairing will only fit 5.25 speakers and if I have the amp in my fairing I have to use a short chassis HU.
Do yourself a favor and research if your fairing choice will allow room for adapters to be able to install bigger speakers (you will most likely want to add bigger in future) and room for amp and HU of choice.
Hey Gannicus, do you know the outside dimensions of the Kappa 5 1/4 cover plate. the Woodys fairing i have coming will just squeeze in Max 6.1 to 6.2 Inch cover plates.
Grizz72 I've got a Reckless fairing on my sons Heritage. I'm certain there's a little difference in the size of the 2 fairings but I'm unfamiliar with the Woodys. We went with Kicker 41KSC54's in the fairing and Pioneer Pro's in the lids ran off of a Sony HU and a Soundstream pn4.1000.
The Kickers are ran in parallel on the front channels and the Pioneers have their own channel on the rears. Sounds damn good for a budget build. The 5.25's are tricky to get set and not over power them but it's definitely doable.
Also...The Kappa grills wouldn't have fit on his fairing without modding them.

No Sir. Have not had a 5.25 speaker in my hand since 06 Lol! I was looking at the Woody's fairing vs the reckless fairing that Bates spoke of. Looks like the reckless has 6.5 speakers and a stereo that comes with it for about the same price as the woody's. Any chance of returning the woody's?
