Make stock stereo better

For amps, I would focus on the Soundstream product as they build some very good budget amps. Use the search feature here on the forum to see what gets on your short list. From that short list u will want to match and amp with the speaks. The Infinity Kappas are a solid play for a budget fairing build. Shop hard for sale price as these were $100 not long ago.
When u get to the rear, simple drop in speakers will be the Polk MM651, Alpine SPR60, etc....
So start researching an amp that will fit on top of your Radio that have been good for others here on the forum.
I'm sure some folks will chime in.
Leave about $50 set aside for random detail items like adapters, line out converters, etc....,

I agree!
I've installed this system on my own bike, as well as for some friends & family. I don't think you'll find a better system, including a bargain priced Boom System (no disrespect to anyone selling one of those). When riding, this system will play loud, have good sound quality and you'll have good treble & bass response (although bass response on our bikes at 75 mph isn't anything to brag about).
Soundstream pn2.350d = $90.51 on Amazon
Infinity Kappa 62.11i = $109.99 @ SonicElectronix
Rockford Fosgate PMSA65 Speaker Adapters = $24.99 @ SonicElectronic
Poly-fill to wrap around back of speakers = $5.00 @ Walmart
Miscellaneous wire, wire ties & fuse holder = $25.00
Quarters for the "Curse" jar = $0.50 (The installation isn't difficult so you shouldn't need to voice any or many expletives)
Total = $255.99
There's also lots of good information on the forum about installing this system. If you stump your toe, let us know and we'll come to the rescue.

You want the fairing speakers to play LOUD. That's why I recommended the 2 channel Soundstream amp & Infinity speakers. This set-up will definitely allow you to hear your music at highway speeds, including better "highs".
Every Harley that I've owned has either been an Ultra or Ultra Limited. I played around with various rear speaker combinations and never felt they helped much, when riding at highway speeds (in the parking lot was a different story). Since I don't hang-out in the parking lot, I don't bother with the rears anymore and concentrate only on the front.

I mean you gotta $20 thousand dollar ride, right?
