First, thanks for all the great info and knowledge on this site. After some consideration i finally got my fairing set up taken care of on my 08 ultra. I added kicker 6.5" speakers and alpine ktp-445u power pack. Sounds much better than stock. Now i need some base to round it out. Plan to add saddle bag speakers. 6.5" or 6x9? And what are your thoughts on lower fairing speakers?

In bike audio the fairing speakers are the main source of quality sound and should be top priority. Probably not what you want to hear but the Alpine amp is under powered even in bridged mode to run one pair of speakers. There is no way that amp will power 6x9's and 6.5's. So before considering lid or bag speakers you may want to reevaluate what's in the fairing.

Totally agree with Bert. Your bass is not going to come from your lowers. Your bass is going to come from 6x9's or 8's in the lids and or saddlebags. The amp choice is just a little better than stock but at 45W x 4 It's not a very powerful amp. The kickers can take 150W all day long. As Bert said your fairing speakers are your most important speakers and with the Alpine amp they are severely under powered.
Purchase a Soundstream PN4.1000D and throw another set of kickers in the lowers and you'll notice a night and day difference.

Does your current fairing set-up meet your expectations when you're at a standstill, cruising and riding at highway speeds?
If you can't check all three of those boxes, you need to consider revamping what's in your fairing before adding more speakers to the lowers or saddlebags.
I ran the KTP-445U and Polk speakers several years ago. It was a nice step-up from the stock radio on my 2007 Ultra Classic - when it was parked in my driveway or riding at 30 mph. Most of my riding is at 75+ mph and the volume & sound quality went away at those speeds.
