Default Bt30 tweeters

I sent the following in a PM to Haze but want to throw it out here as well since I know he is knee deep in getting ready for Daytona.

Quick question, still working on finishing my install. I have the tweeters mounted and was wiring them up to the crossovers. From the crossover, the out is to the tweeters, correct? And normal polarity (black to black, red to red)? I wired them that way and I turned the bike on to test them to make sure they were working. They play but they are not loud at all. I even tried them individually. And, I even reversed the polarity. All same effect. They do play, all highs naturally, but not very loud.

I just want to be sure that is how the should sound. I will be installing the AWs tonight to tomorrow after I run to the store to get some longer screws to mount them to the BT brackets.

Thanks guys for any assistance.

Michael

Based on this info you are correct. The crossovers have a (+) and (-) labeled next to the wiring at the very edge and yes OUT is to the tweeter.

What amp are you running? I have the same BT30's with a SSP4.1000d and they are not very loud either, but they are working. Thinking I need more power.

I'm running the bt30/aw6 combo off of an arc 600.4. I never listened to the tweets by themselves but the combo is almost too loud at times.

Those bt30 should be plenty loud. Is the woofer quiet or is it nice and full of life?

No intentions to highjack the thread but in my case I made a quick dinner run one nightt without the tweeters and the system sounded normal as could be, I could hear the music just fine over my fatcat exhaust (loud baffle) . It sounds like the OP may have experienced the same as I did when testing and tuning. I thought no way I could hear the tweeters over the exhaust, tweeters are very faint by themselves and the woofers are full of life as you asked. The combo sounds good but I wonder if tweeters were even needed unless more power is needed to wake them up.

Hope the OP posts back with his results would like to hear of his findings.

Sorry...back to your normal programming.

hey guys, thanks for the replies. I'm sorry I didn't reply back yesterday, my granddaughter had a softball game so wasn't able to install the woofers. I am running the BT4180 amp. I plan on installing the AWs today and will report back on how the components sound together.

FYI for the BT30 gang.

Just talked to some high level techs at DD and they swear that the BT30 wiring is in line with the industry standard of - dashes on the wire is the neg and no markings is the pos.
As for the cross, they said that those have always been red and black until this recent batch thus the manufacturer jacked it up.
So yes, the wire on the cross is no bueno but the marking on the cross itself is correct as those markings match the board. Get a red and black marker or tape and put that shix on the cross wires to eliminate the confusion.

If u guys are matching dashes on wires on cross and tweet, u r wiring them out of phase.

Well crap now I have to go back in there.

So
On my crossovers both IN and OUT (+) is dashed lines and the (-) are solid black.
This is wrong?

Keep the dashed line as negative on the tweeters?

Thanks,
Jace

So apparently the latest batch of crossovers did not have colored wires and used the dashed wires u see on the tweet itself, and wired the cross contrary to industry standards.

The BT30 should be - is neg and the wire w no marking is the pos.
Now if u have color wire on the cross u should be ok but just make sure the marking on the cross itself matches the color of the wire coming out of it.

No color coding on crossovers.

OP- is the same as yours?
