I have a Ultra with a detachable TP. What is everyone's preference for upgrading the faring and TP speakers so they actually sound good over factory?? Harley wants just over $3K for theirs. I'm willing to spend $1200. It seems the detachable part gets everyone kinked up.
if you're talking simply replacing the speakers, then that's not an issue at all since your tourpak is already detachable and all wiring is already done.
if you're talking about wiring in an amp, then that's really not an issue either but I would use a good 4 channel amp to accomplish the task and mount it in the fairing and use stock speaker wiring to the rear pods. Everything stays detachable as it already is. Disconnecting rear speakers from a 4 channel amp is not an issue either.
Now, if you're talking about wiring in an amp then having that power you're using for rear speakers available for the fairing speakers when the tourpak is off, there's where your kink is going to rear it's ugly head.
as for what speakers, I still have my favorite goto speakers for good, better, best scenarios but I'm an old fart set in my ways. I'll let these younger kiddos help you out with that
Cool. Thanks. Another thread lead me to biketronics.com. Looks fairly simple. Plug and play 4 channel amp, speakers. I was weary on doing a self install, but 10 minutes on youtube, I think I can handle any plug and play system. Now I just need to find the package thats the best bang for the buck.

With your sled being an ULTRA you will have to get is the break out harness and line levers from biketronics as there is no access to the rear speaker wires without having to cut into the harness if BREAKOUT HARNESS is not used or run extra wires from the rear speakers to the fairing and then back to the rear speakers.(a big PITA)
So what I've found on biketronics is an amp/speaker kit with the Breakout Harness. Kit comes with 2 speakers. So basically add 2 more speakers to my cart and done. Call me lazy, but it would be nice to find a whole plug and play kit.
I agree with Tailwind - I tried but was not happy with BT stuff
One point on the amp - depending on the size of the amp you pick, you might need at amp tray so be prepared to add another $160 to your budget
Ok. I have already been looking at different speakers, and BTs amp and harness. I assume all speakers plug in the same, but the first 3 letters of assume are.....?
