Default Amp / Speaker help

Many questions.... I have an Alpine CDE-SXM145 BT, Arc Audio 125.2 Mini and Hertz HCX165 Speakers. I bought the Amp and Speakers from an audio shop and they installed them when I had my Factory head unit 3 years ago.

I just noticed that the speakers are 4 ohm and the amp says 2 ohm on it. Is that significant?

I need to adjust the amp to my new alpine unit although I have no idea what all the adjustments are.

Where is a good place to mount the satellite antenna?

Thank You!

That amp is 2 or 4 ohm compatible. So you're good there. The problem is the amp only produces 70 watts @ 4 ohms and you have the Hertz HCX165 speakers. They need about twice the power available to sound optimal.

i concur just found that out myself
BUT i changed to a marine amp and all the ends of wires are now covered i also used a waterproof shield over the speaker tops and 3 gell bags to absorb moisture and a sound matt blanket on the inside of the fairing chaps what a difference MONSTER difference
clearer sound less interference and when its wet no high level hiss
cost total in uk inc the amp £230.

So...... the audio shop I bought from did me no favors?...... Do you have an amp recommendation ? Also, do you have an opinion on satellite radio antenna location?

They never do bro! Car audio and Bike audio is night and day difference. The BOOM speakers sound good in a car. If you are only running a two speaker system get this amp and bridge it to the hertz speakers.

All kinds of places under the fairing for your antenna. Just depends on where you want to place it.

any audio shop that sells you a standard amp aint looking after your investment
Quality counts more on a bike than a car

Thank you for your time! I keep threatening to go to a 4 speaker system but haven't yet.... What would be a good amp that would suit me now and if and when I go to 4 speakers? Also, can a Satellite radio antenna actually go inside the fairing? I thought they had to be out in the open?

Yes, satellite antenna can go in the fairing. Some mount it on the dash behind the wind shield, Thus allowing it to receive max signal. I have my HD antenna inside the fairing and have never had a problem.

If I bridge that amp to use in the front, I would need still another amp in the event that I went to 4 speakers in the future, right? If that is true, what would be a good amp to buy now for use with 2 speakers that could also handle 4 speakers when needed?
