Default JL Audio amp question

Is the MX 280/4 the same thing as the MHX 280/4?

Thanks,
Mark

The MHX is the discontinued model. The MX is the new version. What's different? Who knows. The new one is black LOL and they claim different circuitry and efficiency but if you can get your hands on a MHX somehow, you'll have $100 extra in your pocket and you won't miss a thing.

Thanks cpbedor. I asked because I ordered an MHX but received MX at same price so was wondering. Hopefully it's as well liked as the previous model. I hear black is louder and sounds better anyway...lol.

I was told that the new model doesn't create as much heat.

The new mx model doesn't get nearly as hot as the old one. Also in a side by side comparison the new one does sound a little better. It's (max) seems to push my focals cleaner.

Mx replaced the mhx. Hard to find the mhx but you will be happier with the mx especially with it closed in a fairing/etc
