Why is there conflicting info out there in regards to setting the EQ flat vs how you normally listen to your music when setting gain?
I have the arc 600.4 bridged with DD's and 998. I was going to mess with it and see if I was leaving anything on the table. I have a VM, but not sure what the output should be.
Sly has a good write up here
also a VAC chart for your goal of gain setting
Remember everything flat is to get a baseline, sort of a fail safe zone
Thats why some argue that gains set by the ear are better.
Apples to Oranges
I like to see clip points as well as Vopltage and try to get as much clean power to my speaks as I can get
OK thanks - My PC won't allow me to see either of those. Guess I'll just use the ear method. Set gain low, turn up HU until it distorts, back it off until clean and mark the spot. Then turn up the gain on the amp up until it begins to distort and then back it of until clean.
I'll try it with the EQ flat and set at my normal trend.
