Default Need thoughts for Biketronics issue

2014 FLHTK
6.5 HU
BT2180.14 amp
Line levelers
Breakout harness
BT7P1.14 Titam II Fronts
Alpine SPR60 rears

You guys know what it sounds like before and after the HU reboot. Ridiculous difference.

I do the reboot. Set the AVC to 3, set bass and treble.

Go for a ride. Half volume is kick-*** and damn near too much. Get gas. Go for a ride. Awesome. Stop and eat. Go for a ride..... and it is back to same sound as before reboot. Sometime it is off the first time I restart the bike after reboot, sometimes it is 5 times later. Sometimes 10 times later.
And it does not matter how many times you restart the bike, it stays sounding like **** once it occurs, until you do reboot.

Do reboot. Baaaamm! Same thing over and over. Sometimes it stays for 5 restarts or so, sometimes it is the first time. You get the point.

I'm thinking that others on here with the BT system and saying their bikes sound excellent when sitting... compared to when riding, might be having the same problem as myself and just don't realize the amp is no longer driving. It is back to the settings prior to reboot.

I'm working with Mike at BT. Tried software update. Same scenario. Sometimes works for a while, sometimes back to no amp right away. Just left him next thumbs down message and waiting for the next thoughts from him.

Any of you guys have any thoughts?

What you are saying is that for Sure you have no amp powering on after restarts and only way to get power back to amp is to do radio reboot ? Not familiar with breakout harness so input my be useless. I would pull fairing check and see if amp is getting power when this happens if power is not present start back tracking. If radio has power then amp should have power think this is power , wiring, LL issue not radio programing. 2cts worth maybe at least get some of the smart guys to try and help ya out.

I bet the amp is getting power, but the radio settings are back to being equalized and sound like crap. My problem is, (I have BT 4180 also, Arc Moto speakers and Pioneer Pro 6900's) My stereo sounds great on some songs, crappy on others, I need a good source for music for my flash drive. Then I can decide if I have radio/amp issues.

TURN OFF THE AVC!!!!! Do not ever run the avc on an amped system. Your overloading the amp and putting it into protect mode.
If you haven't already damaged the equipment your going to with the avc.
Leave the avc off 100% of the time and I assure you the issue will go away.

Thanks for the thoughts guys. I had AVC on 0 at install because I didn't even realize what it was on. The issue started before I even knew about the settings. First time I found the settings, I was already having issues and talking to Mike for the second time in March (first time was just days after the install). I called him just because I was thinking…”holy ****, why am I not smiling like I was the other day?” So I called Mike. He ran me through the HU reset again to make sure it was done correctly, and there it was, back to excellent sound. Not long after that, I noticed it again. And again, and again. And I was doing HU resets each time. Not till the second time I called Mike, he ran me trough every setting in the audio menu, that is when I started setting the AVC. And since it was nice to have AVC on when moving, I was putting it to 3 once in a while when I thought about it. But after awhile of doing HU resets every damn day, I didn’t even f with the AVC. Anyway, yes, I have had AVC on 0, 1, 2, and 3, but mostly on 0 because I never really cared about it. So good to know about keeping it on 0.

And I’m not talking about moving volume. This will occur without ever moving the bike. Park for the night, stereo sounds great. Next morning, fire bike up, sounds shitty. Do full reboot process. Sound is great. Start bike, sound is great. Shut off bike. Restart the bike, sound is shitty. I haven't even moved. And I have been through this so many times, trying to create something specific that may be glitching the system. I’m even making note of the distances I’m riding, time of day and temps, but I have not found a pattern.

When I said “…realize the amp is no longer driving”, I just meant I could tell the sound is way under powered. So protection mode is possible, but there are so many times that there where no factors for the amp to go into projection mode.

So maybe it is just a faulty amp. And maybe that is why sometimes the HU reboot works and sometimes it don’t. Mike asked me to keep some notes this week and hook back up with him in the next couple days. Could just be a bad amp, which is no problem, because he said if we cannot get it to quit, he would send me a replacement.

Take the fairing off and do whatever you are doing to make it sound good.
Repeat the same process your doing, with the fairing still off, to make the sound change. Test the amp voltage output AND voltage input from BOTH the 12v constant and switched supply. I would try to isolate it the issue to see exactly where it's coming from. Anything is possible with electronics.
What your wanting to try and do is se if it's actually the amp, power supply or defective HU. Also check all connections. How do you have the speaker/BT LL/etc connected to each other? Soldered/wire nuts/crimps/etc??

I'm experiencing pretty much the same shix! I've had my setup (bt4180, titan II in the fairing and pioneer pros in the lids) for almost a year and never turn it on anymore because I'm very disappointed in the sound. Sounds ok parked but as soon as I start the bike, the sound quality and volume tank. Sounds like Alvin and the chipmunks going down the highway, lol

Hope you get yours figured out! Got tired of jacking with mine.
