by my nature, i would go with more efficient is better, simple fact that the way i am with everything, even though this audio stuff is way over my head in many respects, if my bike has 4 holes or 8 holes, i want the most efficient speaker that i can tune to my liking, keep the amps at a moderate setting and be relatively confident im not gonna toast anything goin down the road. so reliability is also big factor for the guys that ride more than tavern to tavern in their hometown
Didn't even know SBates was in Alabama? Kerry and I became friends when he was still in Indiana. Now he is about an hour and a half away. We have both been discussing getting together, and talked about going over to Atlanta next month for the audio competition there. Anyway Gan you always have a place to stay in Birmingham. Got a spare bedroom for you anytime you want to come down.
Much appreciated my friend!! Hell if you and Kerry are going to Atlanta. that might be the ticket. I know Haze is competing there and I'd like to go down a watch him kick some Atlanta *** anyway!! His bikes are ALWAYS awesome!! Frankly, I don't know how he can be beat from what I've heard. But there's a lot of bad *** bikes out there! Different classes etc.,
I'm not in Bama. I'm a good ole boy from Ms. but I'm not but about 3hrs from you in B'ham. I was supposed to have met up with Kerry last month but our plans got changed during our trip. I'm up for a meet n greet for sure.
Dammit I knew you were close to Kerry SB!! I remember when he told me you guys were gonna meet up!
I'm actually a damn Yankee lol Moved from Michigan to Ohio to Brandon (Northwest Rankin) Mississippi - 3 years, and moved to Alabama 11 years ago. Definitely up for a southern meet for sure!
Cougar Country. I know it well. Definitely keep me informed on the get together. Those northern boys shouldn't be the only ones having fun.
My setup is not to the level some of you guys have, but the southern meet up would be cool. Florida, Alabama gulf coast would be a cool place to meet up. However, summer time down here is like living in the dam Congo. Ive been here for 22 years and Im still not used to it
With the 6x9s I have had in lid, while riding solo they were more of an accent/fill. I want getting their full volume just do to the nature of physics, but they have me a surround sound type atmosphere. Hell, there's times I miss my simple 4 speaker setup. I didn't know a whole about what I was doing, but it sure was fun learning with and that little F'er was pretty loud and clean.
This was more power and less efficiency. 200 watts a side be fairing and 200-250 watts a side in the lids. https://youtu.be/WNitZ9u9eJU

With my bike parked the 6x9's really fill in the lows nicely, and still add some highs as well. My wife might hear them at 70mph, but I certainly cannot. This is obviously due to their location on the bike, but even if my bags were right beside me like they are for my wife I wouldn't really hear them. My front stage is so loud and directed right at my face that it will drown out anything I do in the rear. I am building an audio system for a friend that only has a front stage setup. I believe there are more people out there that would be completely satisfied with a fairing only system made up of the right components.
Interesting. I was hoping that I'd be able to push those Pro6900 hard enough with a micro amp to compliment the DD's and Arc I am running now in the front stage.
If not, I don't know if investing in a set of HT lids, amp and 6x9 are worth it.
My lady might get some fill out of it I guess, but she certainly can hear the front stage with no problem now. She gets a dancing now and I have to tell her to chill her bottom
Bill I really don't...I can only share my experiences.
I enjoy the conversation and threads that get the collective group discussing how things work vs. the standard thread "what speaker should I get". Thank you for your contributions to this thread!

Atlanta July 15th, Sound Off Series!!
I have a 6 speaker build that hopefully should be finished. Worse case I take it unpainted and in primer but it's going! Shops are no longer allowed to compete in the regular classes so we may do an exhibition between shops to showcase our builds. Should be cool. This is a sound quality show, not a metered competition so there will be lots of heavy hitter bikes with some very impressive installs....the best of the best in the country.

I am pushing 200watts to my Arc 6x9's and I can't. I still like it, and can hear them 50mph and down. I know my wife gets something out of it at the lower speeds too. I know a lot of guys on here don't have any need to play their music in a parking lots, and that's cool. But at bike rally's and bike nights I get asked all the time to play music, and if you saw some of these women and how they are having a blast dancing. It's all worth having the system to do it with.

In that vid I had a TM400x2AD pushing a set of Moto 602s in the fairing and a B54 bridged to a set of Pioneer TS-A6996R 6x9s. The Pioneer Pros are really happy around 150 watts
