Radio dead, need assistance
I have a '13 SG with the stock head unit, a Biketronics 2180 amp and two 7.1 pro speakers in the fairing and two 6 1/2 in the lowers.
1. I have checked the fuse under the side panel, anything else I can check?
2. When I turn the ignition switch the fan on the amp starts, is that normal for it to run all the time or should it come on when it gets warm?
3. What are some of the pros and cons to upgrading or getting the stocker repaired.
4. Lastly recommendations for a replacement HU?
Thanks for any advice you can give a newbie

Now to answer some of your questions. When you turn on the ignition the amp should come on. The pros of the aftermarket HU is more features such as BT, HD radio and sirusXM, Much better sound, USB and EQ capability. The only negative is the install kit you will have to purchase so your handlebar controls will work. I normally use one of three units. Hawg Wired, Biketronics or the Metra Axxess Aswc-1 with the Metra being the most cost effective.
The negative to getting the stock radio repaired is it's probably going to fail again in the not too distant future. I had to send one of my stock radios to iron cross three times before I'd had enough. The 13 and down stock radios are just not good radios. It's definitely worth it to go aftermarket.
Just as a side note. I have seen those stock radios dry out and come back to life after a couple days. So it may not be completely burned up but I'd go ahead and replace the thing regardless.
