What did you use to insulate them while they are connected?

Adhesive heat shrink then braided wire loom. I actually use the same setup in offshore remote control powerboats. They pull 400 plus amps of current and run a 130 mph pass. I had them lying around from building them so decided to try out for audio use one day and they have been working great ever since.
