2017 RGS Audio Upgrade Setup Questions
this is why these forums are so hard to get the right information.. people talk about this and that but i wonder what the hell they really are trying to say. if anyone has put one in their fairing, they'd know what i am talking about and surely would have relayed that something has to be done to get this installed correctly without modifications or what minor modifications would be needed.

Can't say I saw where you were looking to use the D4 anywhere in your thread. From what I read you were going to use the RF amp.
" I have a Rockford Fosgate Prime M400-4D amp. sticking with amp i have as it worked great for 3 years"
This thread here clearly says the D4 won't fit in a rushmore shark, although it's a 15' it's still the same fairing:

The right information is there, just gotta ask the right questions and do a little searching.
Good luck

its for 'dd4 road glide', in case you dont see it when you click it, but it too doesnt offer anything based on the titles. I have clicked on many responses to my searches, both on and off this forum. I dont scrub every one like some here do or can. Problem is there is not standard usage of terms some people put RG, some put RGS, some call it shark, some call it roadglide some call it road glide, and on and on with the other parts of any search. I have exhausted myself and NOT ONE POST I COULD FIND ANYWHERE ON ANY FORUM RELATED TO THE SIZE OF AMP THAT CAN OR CAN NOT FIT IN THE NEWER ROAD GLIDE'S. excuse me for trying. i'll go back to my IT sites where at least I can bash on idiots like you do here.

Ask for help, you'll get it. However, keep in mind, the help you get may be invaluable, or it could be totally incorrect and cause you pain. Just remember, those answers are worth every cent you paid for them ($0.00).
Most everyone here wants to help others. If you're looking for advice, it's up to YOU to sort out the good from the bad.
I still hate the engineering of my Rushmore head unit. With a passion. I love the function of it. Integrated XM, Media/USB, Navigation, etc... but it is crippled to make this difficult for us (we're supposed to buy BOOM). It would be so easy for HD to make a setting in Digital Technician that is entitled "aftermarket" that would a) reduce the output to line-level and b) deliver a totally flat signal - but why WOULD they? There are ways around it, but it's not "simple."
If you want to play with fire (the Rushmore audio), you're likely to get burned a couple of times. It's worth it in the long run.
