I'm doing some research to find a replacement for my 998 after too many issues.
This unit is one of the recommended ones and I found this.
Thought that I would share it.
Read the comments, looks like it is not an isolated case.
So, how come is the list of most recommended? (Kenwood X998, Alpine 149BT & Sony M70BT)
I think all three are pretty good units! Just keep in mind no matter what unit you choose there can ALWAYS be a lemon in the bunch. I've had to send all three back at one time or another. The only one I have not had to send back is the Pioneer. So I guess my point is if all three units are working as they should they do a pretty good job! My favorites of the bunch is Sony and Pioneer. But that's just me.

I hear you, so far I got two lemons. At this pace I might get a tree.
Other than that my only complaint is the lost of settings when power is disconnected, but most of them remain in the memory and are easy to recall.
There is just one audio settings that doesn't remain in the memory and has to be reset manually (Supreme under Sound Enhancements that by default is On)
