Default Kappas and Plastic Baskets

i want to do an nice stereo upgrade to my 2013 Street Glide.

I have chosen 6x9 Infinity Kappa 693.11I and 6.5 Infinity Kappa 62.11I

Im worried about the plastic baskets breaking. I have seen a minor review or two where people have broken them.

Anyone have any issues with them breaking in the bag lids, or faring?

Should i rethink my whole set up to stay away from these, because of the plastic baskets?

also.... i cant decide... i have gone back and forth in my head about a 100 times. Im getting to purchase everything....

Should i get the CV B54, or TWO CV B52's????

Would it be that big a difference? and for the price? and on those speakers?

Ive seen a lot of 2 amp set ups. Im sure i can fit 2 CVB52's in the faring. It just comes down to cost and if its that big of a difference...

I assume when you say plastic buckets you are referring to the pods. Pods are in the Rushmore bikes, 2014+, no issue in your bike. As far as the amp goes, I'll let those much wiser than me chime in on that. I have one B52 pushing a set of Kappa 62.11i and happy with it. (For now!)

Let's do a quick recap bro. 2013 SG. Infinity Kappa 62.11i in the fairing and infinity Kappa Kappa 693.11i lids pushed with a Cerwin Vega B54 or Two Cerwin Vega B52's. Sound about right? What HU are we running?

There are no plastic baskets on that bike. Pretty straight forward set up.

I think he is referring to the speaker baskets cracking.

Nailed it right on the head, thank you.

Sorry for the confusion everyone else.

On BOTH sets 6.5" and 6x9" on the Kappas (i believe), Nothing to do with Any Harley, the back of the speakers themselves, the cage that makes up the back of the speakers, down to where the magnets are, the frame of the actual speakers, on the Kappas, are Plastic, or some kind of plastic, Not metal like most speakers.

ive read a review or two, that those "cages/baskets" or what ever you want to call them, have broken, and therefore destroys the speaker.

Anyone have any issues with their Kappas like that? Mostly worried about the saddle bag lid location where i will have the 6x9's. Subject to more movement, and weight...

I have left over from previous motorcycle stereo install, sold the bike kept the stereo, cuz it was only 3 months old. And i cant justify buying another deck, and this one is plenty decent. And i dont mind it covering the gauges at times. And ive seen other street glides with this stereo, so i know there are no "issues".

Glad to hear it. Im slightly more concerned with the 6x9's, as they will be subject to more stress. Lids opening and closing, and stuff being put in the bags (which that is in my control, but still worries me) More up and down movement then the fairing speakers... The lids im getting do not have a "basket" to rest the 6x9 in, they attached more like the adapters for the 2013's fairing speaker adapters work. these are the lids: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mutazu-Vivid...53.m1438.l2649
