Well I just completed the first phase of my upgrade for my 2015 Ultra Classic. Many thanks to all who helped me with questions and suggestions. Especially, Alex, Tailwind, Gann, CovertOlds, sponger, etc:
DD AW6.5s/BT30s in the fairing
Polk MM652s in the TP pods
BT Brackets and BOC
J&M amp tray
SS TN900.4D amp Fairing off. Stock configuration Speaker pods removed. J&M amp tray installed. SS amp installed. BT brackets and AW6.5s installed. I used 1/2" spacers to provide clearance from the tweeters behind the grilles. Not as clean as it could be because I left extra wiring in case I have to change things.
I used Boom! Stage I speaker grillls Used the 3/16" adapters that came with the Polks as spacers. Just cut the tabs off of the outside with my dremmel. Wrapped the adapters with black vinyl using double backed tape to make them look like the pods.
I wanted to mount the tweeters behind the grills but don't have the 3D printer capabilities like others here so I had to improvise Took the stock grills out Pulled the cloth away from the plastic backing. Flipped them over so the curve is towards the back and then swapped the left and right sides Boom! grill over the plastic stock cover Dremmelled out the hole so the tweeters would just fit through. Tweeters installed in grills. I used a thin plastic spacer so the ring just screws on the back. This was to maximize space between the tweeters and the woofer cones.
I used some treated grill cloth between the grills and the tweeters before installing back in the fairing.
Please post how all this sounds when your done. I have a little bit more to save and I will be doing the same thing
Here's a couple of more pics of where I removed a little metal ring just to the left of the CB module so I had a little space for the BT line levelers Looking at the right side of the stock HU there is a thin metal hole that blocks this nice space After removing the metal hole with my dremmelHere's the two line levelers with the Stinger RCA cables connected.
Looks damn good brother. Glad u got that amp in there.
You were right about it being a tight fit but with the back of it up on the lip of the amp tray I just doubled up the Velcro on the back half to keep it in place.
