I was talking to a guy that was telling me there was this fabric that you could install inside the speaker grill. This fabric would protect the speak and let the sound out.
Has anyone heard of this, and where do you get it?

Jo-Ann's or another fabric store actually sells speaker cloth. Most of the guys here treat the cloth with a coup of coats of Kiwi Camp Dry to waterproof the cloth and then cover the speakers or the grills themselves to protect the speakers from the elements.
The stock speakers are waterproof now no need to cover them never any problems at all with with many years of riding.
You are correct. I assumed the OP was talking about aftermarket speakers. There are also some pretty good marine rated aftermarket speakers if you are going that direction. Polk MM652s and MM692s for 6.5" and 6x9 respectively.
I just installed some Focal speakers. And I want to protect them as they are not marine grade speakers.
I test rode a new CVO road glide. And now I want some speakers for the bags. I didn't know that they were that good.

if your concidering 6x9 lid speakers, the DD VO 6x9 will blow away any cvo lid speaker they sell.

Depending on the speaker location ie fairing, u might consider putting the treated grill cloth on the outside of the grill. Much cleaner install.
Google âParts Express Speaker Grill Clothâ and there are plenty of selections available. I use the Mellotone Grill Cloth and it works well.
