Default HK HU Flash

I have a 2017 CVO Street Glide. It comes with 2 boom amps, fairing and saddlebag speakers. I acquired the fairing lower speakers/amp/harness from a take-off. Everything installed without much fanfare by following the instructions and plenty of bad words. The instructions say I must get the radio flashed before operating the audio system or I will blow up the new speakers and the world will end.

My question is since I already have the rear channels installed as OEM, what exactly is the flash going to do? My understanding is that the flash will enable the rear channels on the HU, but they are already enabled. The signal to the new amp is achieved by tapping off the existing harness, power comes directly from the battery, turn-on seems to come from a P&A connector under the fairing. There is a connection to the CAN BUS and that begs the question of whether the AMP turn-on or some other functionality is enables by the system when the new Amp is seen on the CAN bus.

I've searched the net and most discuss flashing when adding additional non HD amps/speakers or adding a second HD Amp, nothing about adding a 3rd HD amp. I called several dealers and they seemed to think I am from another planet.

lordj ,,,,,

only a Harley dealer can help you install those additional boomii amps and speakers on your 2017 CVO StreetGlide ,,,,,

I suggest finding one with the experience to install all of the BOOMII components, and knows how to properly flash the radio for the BOOM II components ,,,,

if you ever get to the point that you want to remove it all of the BOOM II stuff, J&M offers a specific ROKKER XXR Extreme kit that is all plug-n-play to replace what you have, here https://www.jmcorp.com/ProductDetail...60DA4-15SG-CVO ,,,,,,

you would also need to have the J&M Stage 4 Radio flash to have it all work properly, and the stage4 flash info is in this video
,,,,,,
