I just purchased a 18 SG anniversary edition and wanted speaker in my bag lids. HD wanted $2600 for the lids, amp and wiring harness and that was no labor. I thought I would get aftermarket lids and just paint them. Well HD doesn't have the paint and may not have it for a year. Go figure.....
After much debate and seeking alternative solutions, I bought a RF tms69bl14 kit. The wiring was easy enough and I saw the vid RF had on you tube for installing the speaker pods themselves. I will tell you I cringed when it came time to cut holes in the lids knowing my only option for replacement was new $1200 lids.
Well they fit perfect. I really didn't like the sound of the RF speakers as they distort with more than 1/4 gain on the amp and wondered if other aftermarket speakers would fit the RF pods. I will tell you that Hertz MPX 690.3 speakers fit well.
