Default Biketronics 6.5" speaker upgrade

I installed the 6.5" speaker adapters and speakers in my SG today. I also have an ARC amp. The system sounds great with larger speakers. The upgrade cost with the speakers, adapters and the amp were $450 a little steep for what it is. Here are a few pics.

Thanks for the pics and write-up. Haven't seen the Biketronics 6.5" install previously.

Interesting that HD still gives us a speaker hole designed for a 4" speaker that they used in the early '90's.

The cost is not bad considering you got larger speakers and adaptors.

I agree these bikes should come stock with 6.5" speakers. But I guess like everything else with these bikes should have and do are to different things.

yes, I saw somewhere that you just get the adapters. the sound is totally different with the 6.5 speakers vs 5 1/4--I did this on my 07 sg about two years ago I made the 6.5 adapters work using jb weld

My 6.5" biketronics should be in this week.

So are you happy with it? I'm waiting to see if I want amp. How much was ARC amp and where are those available? I wasn't ready to splurge on $399 biketronics amp.

So did you ever run the setup with the ARC speakers? What was the difference between the 5 1/4 vs the 6? I've been debating this updated, but man... I have so much $$ tied up in this little project.. not sure I want to do it!

you'd get more base sound out of the 6.5s... should run just fine with an Arc amp

I only have about 50 miles on the system and no highway use yet. So far I have the following observations. The mid bass hits very hard I can feel it in my chest. The highs could be better. I think by using these adapters you lose the factory speaker angle towards your ears. I think this is hurting the tweeter performance. If you duck your head lower it sounds better. I bought the speakers and adapters for $200 and bought the ARC mini for $250 NIB on Ebay.
