Okay, ditched the chinese crap I found that looked like HD oem.
I've installed the aquatic HU and kicker front speakers. I did the kickers because they are marine. What I'm looking for now, is some lids for the saddle bags 2014 FLHTCU and some good marine grade speakers, since I'd rather not have wet bags. Figured it'd be easy enough to also run a silicone bead to help seal as well. As far as I know, the aquatic has a built in amp, which I may or may not upgrade to a new amp down the road. the kickers are also 2ohm resistance and the aquatic can run both 2 and 4, but I'm guessing it'd be better to stay with two. The ultimate idea is not to break the bank, but a good set of lids and speakers that will match. I've read alot on the forums, but it seems that everybody is out to build the most expensive system they can. Unfortunately I'm not a little bit of a limit just because we are banking money to build a new house. But this is an early birthday from the wife. Any ideas would be appreciated. Since I need to make sure that the speakers will actually fit in the lids as well.
Boardtracker.com (Harley Dealer) has the 2014 speaker lids with factory matched paint for $231 + $40 for grills, black is $191. You need a speaker adapter to convert to a 6x9, American Hard Bags has one or you can use a 5x7 from Hybrid Audio Technology or JL! The Polk MM692 seems to be a popular choice, Ive had the BT 479, the Pioneer ts6900 Pro's, and now I have DD VO 6x9's which I like, but no tweeter. I have BT 7.1 pods for highs on my rear platform!
For the lids, the only ones that I could find for 6x9 were hogtunes and advan. Which were pretty much identical lids. Was looking at the BT 7.1's to add as well. It's funny, given that HD is a platform that's been around for so long (with so many aftermarket parts), that any audio equipment tends to be extremely high end, or low end. Not much in between. Appreciate the help, since that gives me a few options to consider. With so many into the audio, honestly expected more people's input. Since we've moved from michigan to alabama, ridden in much more rain. So one requirement is keeping it all watertight (first ride down here it rained on us 3x lol). What does everybody do to waterproof a normal speaker? If I end up moving from a marine option to normal car, definitely don't want the cones rotting out or bad performance if caught in the rain lol

I read your message, and searched around but could not figure out what dealer sold lids at that price, could you explain furthur.

Saw the rockford, thanks. Funny that there are only a couple companies doing them. Ranging so much in price. Although I do appreciate the boardtracker website. Didn't know they existed and that's exactly what I wanted. On here, everybody talks about the super high end stuff. Which is fine if you've got a few grand to blow. But all I'm looking for is a reasonable upgrade from stock and to relocate the pod speakers to the bags. Hell, when you stop and think about it, i've already dropped about $500 just doing the first stage of the audio. Another $500 doing the bags/rear speakers...easy. Down the road, I'm going to end up selling this bike, but it'll be awhile. A large chunk of property and building a new house with a mechanics/fabrication garage is my top priority. So any money saved, goes towards new lifts, a new tig welder, lathe, mill, etc. Yep, I get to build my dream garage, so it'll be worth it in the end. In the meantime, I've already put some money into upgrades on the bike. Suspension, audio, bags, run/turn/brake controller, etc. etc. etc. Hell, even bought the LEDs for the instrument cluster just for fun. So greatly appreciate the help with keeping cost to a minimum when it came to finishing out the sound. Eventually when we buy a new scooter, the sound will definitely be top notch.
