Default Upgrading My Upgrade

Hi to all you gurus,

I poured over this part of the forum some months back and settled on a Rockford Fosgate PBR300x2 Amp and a set of Polk Audio MM651 speakers to upgrade the oem system in my 2012 Ultra Limited. I found a great deal in the classifieds here and had no issues at all with the purchase or install thanks to the seller and the people who regularly give advice here.

So at the last Daytona Beach Bike Week my wife is standing in front of Boot Hill watching the bikes go by and listening to the great (and loud) sound systems on the baggers and turns to me and says "can you make our bike do that?" To which I reply "Absolutely! I'm just going to be spending money." While she had a brief look of concern, it wasn't nearly as bad a response as it could have been. Somehow the sound bug has gotten her worse than me.

We don't usually ride with the Tour Pak unless we take a road trip, and it's warm for lowers down here most of the time. So I'm considering speaker lids with 6x9's and replacing the 2-channel RF amp with a 4-channel. I have read good things about the Soundstream PN4.1000d amp here and was wondering what everyone thinks of that amp pushing a decent set of 6x9's (which I need advice on) in the lids and the Polk MM651 set.

I'm trying to stay somewhat budget and would like to keep the 6x9 speakers under $200.

Thoughts?

Thanks again for any advice and input.

Paul

The Soundstream PN4.1000D will push any speaker out there. No worries there. For 6x9's my favorites are the DD VO 6x9's! A lot of guys aren't huge fans of the DD's because the don't have a tweeter and therefore no highs. Here's the thing. If your front stage has good highs. You don't need em in the rear. Those speakers rock!! That's my story and I'm sticking to it!!

i have the DD 6x9's in my bags and i agree. it gives it a 'surround sound' and there are plenty of highs from the front. its a great setup that i rode to Daytona from NC

Default Uprading My Upgrade

Thanks for the advice and information, I really appreciate it. I checked the web for the speakers (I'm assuming you are talking about the VO-M6X9 Gannicus) and they look good and are in my price range. Question though- I think my Polk MM651 faring speakers are 2 ohm...these appear to be 4 ohms (3.339) will that be an issue with the Soundstream amp?

No issue as each set of speakers will be on their own channel.
