Default A little different sound upgrade idea?

I looked around and could not find any info on this idea.

I am picking up a 2010 CVO Ultra next week and looking to upgrade the sound. I am doing extended bags and 6 X 9 speaker lids and also have Hogtunes pods for the lowers that accept 6.5 subwoofers which I will source. Any reason I could not run those four speakers of a 4 channel amp in the saddlebag and use the the stock Ultra Boom for the factory 4 speakers? I was thinking of Y ing all the speaker wires to go to the amp so those wires feed the factory speakers and also input the additional amp. I am also putting a 10 inch sub in the saddle bag. So it would be a 300 watt amp for the 4 speakers and a 300 watt amp for the subwoofer

The amp and speakers I am adding will be 2 and 4 ohm, the factory unit is a 1 ohm. I do not see a issue signalling with the 1 ohm wiring and having a mixture of 1 and 2 and 4 ohm?

Any issue Y ing the speaker wires? Feedback?

Can the charging system handle a addition 600 watts of amplifier? If not is there a way to upgrade the charging system?

New kid,

You really need to do a lot of reading and research on here before starting to buy equipment.

One of the things you need to ask yourself is what are your goals here.

The way it looks like you're setting this up is to be more of a parking lot and bike night type of stereo.

Set up the way you're talking about, your stereo going down the road at highway speed will be poor at best.

I can tell you from personal experience that the subwoofers in the lowers is worthless as **** on a boar hog above 30 miles an hour.

It sounds like you got the budget for a really decent stereo set up, hopefully the guys on here that are really good at designing theese things will chime in and help you here do it right the first time.

I had to learn the hard way to put my ego in my back pocket, read carefully first and then ask questions.

I would venture to say that there is more knowledge about sled stereo on this forum than any other place in the world

Let me expand a bit on my comment. I think you should slam on the brakes right at the point where I edited your post above and really take some time to rethink your initial strategy.

I really think you need to get the current 4 speak locations on the sled in an exceptional position before heading down this other road. Now if the lids and lowers are indeed part of the plan, include that in your overall initial build plans, but I really don't think the "room addition" onto the OEM audio will serve you well.

Set a budget and think this thru start to finish.

300w amp will not be enuff for lowers and lids so scratch that from the list. We can get u better for probably cheaper.

And yes, your charging system can handle 2 good class d amps.

Ok New Kid,

Two of the guys that really know their stuff have chimed in.

If I was you my next post would say please help me design a stereo for my motorcycle. tell them the speaker locations you would like to use, the head unit you're going to use, your budget and then let them guide you and pay close attention

I have the amps and subwoofers for the lowers already hence why I was hoping to do it this way. I agree, the lower 6.5 subwoofers do not do much. I have them in my current bike and was unhappy at best, again why I am looking to add more. I assumed it was the **** quality of the 6.5 subs in the kit or weak amp for the poor performance of the subs. I have some really good 6.5 subs that I could use in those pods, but they are not 1 ohm so I realize they will be ineffective using a 1 ohm system to drive them

The main reason for the 6 X 9s in the lids is for her, she does not get enough music back there.

So there is no budget for music, trying to use stuff I have and only buy a couple things, pair of 6 X 9s and one 10". I have to think that she will get more music with the 6 X 9s and a subwoofer back there. My question really is more focused on the charging system (thank you for the answer), and Ying the speaker wires for inputs for the amp (s).

But if it will not work it wont work

I already bought the extended bags and lids, along with other bodywork. So I have stock lids or speaker lids.

I am a body / paint guy so while expensive for most, the P and B is free for me

So specifically what audio components do u have in your possession?

That's probably the best place to start. We can attempt to evaluate and then build the mouse trap from there. I do think that ur gonna have to throw some bucks at it in order to get u respectable results.
