Warmer simply means the blend of sounds from your speakers are soft but precise. Crisp sounds are more defined and can be harsh. Some like that crisp defined sound but most like the softer blend for a better all around sound. The only way to compare is like listening to the best home stereo system you can get vs. listening to a pro studio with all the sound produced without any filters. That is the best I can describe it.

I think gypsye covered it well but I'll pass along what I experienced with my setup.

I have WDX6 Motos in the batwing fairing with 140 watts going to each one. They can put out a lot of sound without distortion, but with them aiming straight at your head it can seem harsh when you turn it up. When I added AD Designs CX6s to the lowers that filled in the midrange a good bit and allowed me to hear the music better at lower volumes. I can use the fader to bring in the lowers a bit to add midrange if things seem harsh.

I guess that's what I interpret as "warmth" is being able to hear the music without having to pierce my skull with it. Having the same ADs in the rear pods also gives another angle for audio to reach my ears before I have to really crank up the volume.

Hope this helps.

Warmth is normally described in class A/B amplifier setups using soft dome tweeters.

A system using a class d amplifier and bullet tweeters is on the other end of the spectrum.

My question is: did you run those cx6's parallel on the same channel as wdx's?

I'm guessing same channel as the other AD Designs CX6s, if in parallel with Moto's he wouldn't be able to fade the CX6's "I can use the fader to bring in the lowers a bit to add midrange if things seem harsh." So Moto's on 1 and 2 and CX6's in parallel on 3 and 4?

Yup. I didn't catch that.

Yeah, lowers and pods in parallel. So far so good. If I ever wind up putting lid speakers on the bags I may end up putting the rear ADs on their own amp but for this six speaker setup they seem to be about right for what they are capable of doing.

without degrading any amps, or any speakers, my idea of amp warmth is much different than any replies in your thread.
i started out with pn4 1000d amp and kappas, it was loud, damn loud.
but it lacked alot of the musical undertones, clarity, depth of good instrumentals and vocals.
i upgraded to pro audio speakers and horns with same amp, the clarity that i was after was closer, but lacked the full depth of some vocals and instrumentals.
next time around i upgraded pro audio mids again and went with JL XD amp, and i will say im about as close as ive ever been.
