Default Amp crossover setting question

Since I'm going to need to re tune everything with my new head unit, I've been reading up on the subject a bit, but I have information overload and am a little confused. I've an Arc Moto 600.4 with Hertz HCX 165 in the fairing. Head unit will be the MEX GS620BT if that makes a difference. From what I see, it's recommended to set the amp crossover to Flat and use the crossover on the head unit instead. The Arc doesn't have a Flat setting, only High, Low and Full. Full and Flat don't sound like the same thing to me, where should I be setting the switch?

Ah, they sound like they would be the complete opposite. So Full basically disables the **** settings, correct?

Also, I see recommendations to use the amp crossover and to not use it with an aftermarket head unit. Which is correct, and why?

You CAN use both as long as they match but my recommendation is to use one or the other. Most of this question depends on the equipment you are using. Some amps do not have a clear definition of where 80Hz is on the dial. It may jump from 50 Hz to 250 Hz with no settings in between. With amps configured like this I use the HU for my crossover. Otherwise it's a guessing game with these types of amps.

That said. If you are going to use the HU for your crossover. Make sure you have the skills to reset the settings if you blow a fuse or lose battery power for some reason. You will lose all of your settings on the HU if the battery is disconnected. On the other hand if the crossover is set at the amp. Your settings are still there if you blow a fuse or lose battery power.

Pros and Cons both ways but ultimately it comes down to personal preference. The equipment will do what ever you tell it to do.

Thanks Gan, that makes sense. I think I'll just use the HU, seems like it may be a bit easier to hit the numbers dead on. With my setup, is 80 where you'd start? I saw a post a while ago where you posted some EQ settings and whatnot for the M70BT, would these be a good starting point for the GS620 as well or do you happen to have some updated settings you'd start with? I'm learning, but man there's so much to know and I just don't do it that often to be all that good at it.
