Default BT 4250 amp

So I was looking in the classifieds for some deals and came across a member selling an, all but new BT4250 that he spent 800 bucks on and it is now down to 500. I know there are other threads out here about the amp but, is it really that bad that only 2 weeks old that he is giving it away? I know it has some issues and I thought BT was working with people to set them up to meet their needs.Did I miss something?

I don’t know the story with that amp that is for sale, but I have seen people sell equipment before they even install it simply because they realized it wasn’t the best fit for their build needs. I think the 4250 is a good amp, just doesn’t work for everyone.

After BT Mike Made my 4250 "a little hotter"...what ever that means...I had more adjustment with my gains! At first I was running the gains WFO on my HAT SE's, after BT Mike made some adjustments, I was running the gains at about 3 o'clock on he SE's and at about 1 o'clock on my VO 6.5's. It's a powerful clean clear detailed sounding amp...(just like the 4180) would I buy it again...probably not... I would go with a JL 600/6!

Still running mine and very happy with it. Will probably add a DSP over the winter just because I want to try one. Happy with SQ now, but want to tweak to see what I can get.

Thanks Wind - exactly my situation.

Seller here - I realize the OP is looking for insight from someone other than me, but at the end of the journey with the amp I just got tired of taking the faring on and off every time we adjusted something. In reality I switched directions about the time we got it right (it was in the LL settings, not the amp). I went DSP and my local dealer gave me a great deal on a complete setup that included an amp. At the time my thoughts were to keep the BT amp for future lower / lid upgrades, but I realized that I'm going to ride "as is" for a while. FWIW 60%-70% of retail for a resell price seems to be the norm in the classifieds, even in new or like new condition.
