ive got to agree there Bob, but lets reinforce the fact that it all needs to be part of a quality system, an amp, hu or speakers alone aint gonna get it done

I totally agree and have learned my lesson on that.
I totally agree and have learned my lesson on that.
and yet i get the $$$ part of it too, so anyone with an end goal in mind, dont get frustrated along the way as your adding pieces to the puzzle, and not underwhelmed with each addition, just be satisfied with the incremental improvements along the way until you get everything together.
for krist sake this stuff is changing so fast im thinkin pieceing together slowly is the way to go, although there are many tried and true combos that will always stand the test of time
I have a line on a JL 400/4v2 that I can get for a good price. JL was first choice with the 600/4v2 that wouldn’t fit my fairing, I think I can fit the 400 in tray since I have aftermarket HU. Stifling air if I should use ARC’s or something else for 6x9’s and horns.

Don't buy that amp till u have a real good idea of what ur speakers will end up being.
Tailwind, Here’s what I have, 2012 Road Glide. PRV 500 6.5’s in lowers and fairing already installed, VO B3 horns in gauge holes and VO 6x9’s in lids.
Imho, that JL 400/4 will get ur ship half way to shore.
I would personally get a killer 4 channel amp for the fairing and kids and a micro for the horns and if ur a fan of JL get the 600/6 and run the fairing off 2 channels, the lids of 4 channels bridged, and the horns still off a micro.
I think the VOs sound a bunch better with a lot more power than 2 channels on the JL 400 or 600 can provide.
