The Kurys move the boards forward as well as out? Mine are moved out already.

Yes. Out 1" and forward 1".

I'm 6'2 and like others have said I use the highway pegs a LOT so I don't know how it would be without lowers and moving the boards forward. I did get the Pingel one inch spacers for my floorboards that moved them outwards one inch each and that helped and the lowers didn't get in the way of that.

I really don't think I could do without my highway pegs though. I am used to my Wide Glide and FLH where I made brackets to push the controls/pegs outwards and forwards to keep pressure off my tailbone. I don't think that moving the boards forward a little bit on the Ultra Classic would be comfortable enough for me to stay off of the highway pegs. Stretching my legs forward like that distributes my weight across my haunches instead of it all being on my tailbone like the upright seating position of the touring bikes force you into.

OP if you can get used to highway pegs lowers may be worth a shot. I think a company called Voodoo something or another makes speaker pods that do not have the lower fairings attached to them. Maybe they make something that would allow you to mount speakers without messing with your boards.

Also Marine speaker manufacturers make speakers that bolt to railings. I have seen some folks use adapters to adapt the clamp to Harley crash bars so that might also be an easy trick for you to try.

I'm going to make a liar out of myself! I said function over form, but I'm not willing to do the speaker cans lol. I think I'm going to work toward adding fairing lowers. I will swap the spacers for the relocators and get shorter brake and shift levers. Then add lowers and speaker pods. Then add two sets of PRV neo 6.5s and some horns. Run the four PRV off my XD400/4. Run the horns off my SD250.2 and the lids off my D4.90 or a MX280/4. Then save up for DSP or Sony HU.

Sounds like a solid plan, What's in the lids?

Marshall.....I have a 14 Limited with speaker adapters on my lowers to get lower speakers on my wethead. It moves the speakers out from the lower close to 2". I'm 6'2 and have no issues. I use my floorboards solely when its cold or rainy. I move my heel to the outboard front and toe on highway pegs typically. I also stretch out more with all highway pegs. None of the three foot positions get into the lowers.

Hey Marshall, have you seen the custom SG on DD website on the adventure page...they have pods or cans on the crash bars with a horn mounted next to the pod...looks pretty good to me. I put lowers on my SG basically for speakers and I have the EZ brake shift and brake levers which are about on 1' longer and I had to remove the adjustable vent kept getting in the way...removing it lets more air in to the engine also! You will figure out the comfort part...do the lowers, you will like how your front stage will imprtove..wham!!

Hi there,
Our FRAME MOUNTED ADJUSTABLE HIGHWAY PEG MOUNTS are a great option for adding comfortable highway pegs on a bike with fairing lowers. Available in black or chrome and design to not interfere with the bikes lean angle. Check it out at ciro3d.com !

Not Looking to steal this thread, I was curious to know if the old lower fairing design will work on the a 2018 FLHX? I am just not sure if anything will rub or if there is any design difference between the new and old besides the vent and glove box.
