Default Speaker Question please

Hello all,

I have a 2013 Electraglide, and it has the Klockwerk Kustoms Kicker Amp and speakers. Well, the speakers have died and I need some recommendations, please.

The Kicker speakers are 5 1/4" with a 3/4" tweeter, 60HZ -20HZ frequency response , 88.3 db sensitivity, 2 ohm normal impedance 100W Peak, 50Watt RMS Max power.

I saw the Jensen speakers, which are half the price of replacement kicker's, but are 3 ohm. Not sure if they would work with the Kicker amp, as the speakers that come with it are 2 ohm.

Please help!

Thanks in advance,

~Joe

Traveler, are you related to Travelinggypsy...one option would be to get the metra 82-9601 5.25 to 6.5 adaptors ($13 amazon) and put in Infinity Kappa 62IX 2ohm speakers $103 on Amazon. I looked on Klockworks website and looked at the kicker amp from the Kicker fairing bundle only 50 rms per channel, need a better amp if you got the coin,,Cerwin Vega B52 at 250 rms per channel at 2 ohm...$135 Aprox.

No relation to Traveling Gypsie.

I want to stay at 5 1/4.

What would happen if I put 3 ohm speakers on this setup that was made for 2 ohm?

Just curious why you want to stay 5.25"???? 6.5" will provide a ton more and better sound. The adapter uses factory screws into fairing and allows for mounting of a larger speaker. No modifications to hike are needed at all, just 3 screws

Joe,
As USA eluded to, updating the speakers to 6.5 will provide you a better sound all around without modifying your fairing or need to replace the grills. The adaptors mount to the fairing using the stock screws and the 6.5 speakers mount to the adaptors. A set of new infinity kappas 6.5 will work with that amp and provide you a ton better sound than the kickers you have been using. If you are determined to stay 5.25 on the speakers, the jensens will work but wont sound that good. The amp you are using is 4 ohm stable so all 5.25 speakers that are 2,3,4 ohm should work. Do some research on speaker sensitivity ratings as the higher the sensitivity rating, the lower the watts are needed to power them. 88 is on the low end, 91+ is better with the amp you are running. Infinity reference 5,25's will work well with a 92 sensitivity rating.

Hope this helps.

Honestly if you were happy with the Kicker setup YOU probably won't notice a difference.

If the Kicker amp he is using is the Kicker PXA200.2 it is listed on Crutchfield as 1 ohm stable. It must be at least 2 ohm stable if it comes with 2 ohm speakers, if it is only 4 ohm stable you could not use 2 ohm speakers with it.... just so the OP doesn't get confused!

No problem using a 3 0hm speakers with a 2 ohm stable amp (you can go higher but not lower). You just will not be getting as much power (watts) to the speakers, because the higher the ohms the more resistance to the power reaching the speaker! If you want to stay 5.25 the 5.25 Infinity Kappas will work...Kappas are really 2.7 ohms or at least they use to be! Hope this helps!

Well there is a bracket that goes to where the speakers are. If you add a spacer and a 6.5 speaker, what about that bracket?

Where is the cheapest location to buy this stuff?
