At least nobody is tracking me!!! As far as the signal strength goes, that's become commonplace with AT&T service lately.

That would be 270 watts. That'll get you some magic smoke real quick.

So my CV B52 with Kappa 62ix speakers has to be dialed down to produce 75 watts??? Guess I'll pull the B52 and put the Elf 2125 back in then seeing how I only need 75 watts. Heck a Hogtune amp does that.

As mentioned earlier, nowhere, when looking up setting gains with a DMM, is there ever any mention of taking into account the speaker RMS rating. Pretty important piece of the equation missing, probably should be added to the Sticky, don't you think?

This will be kept simple. Follow the KISS method here. 1 MAJOR factor is using head unit at 3/4 volume or having the proper tools to know your head units max volume prior to clipping. Must have bike RUNNING when setting gains. All enhancements, bass, treble etc all set flat. Use a good true rms multimeter. Use the Chart I am providing. Save yourself the headache of the math. It all works the same be it bridged or not. 4 ohm is 4 ohm. 2 ohm is 2 ohm. I am also providing link to test tones. There are others out there but you really only need the 1 khz tone for 99 % of builds on this forum. I advise using the -5 db tone for some gain overlap

So anyone who literaly follows the above instructions to the letter could blow their speakers....???

could you send me a link to that formula, or could you do the calculation for a B52 with Kappa 62ix speakers?

Thanks, Jim

Keep the b52 as it will open up the possibility of using other 4 ohm speakers in the future. The other not so much. Also it is never a bad thing to have head room left In the amp. It will run cooler and last longer

27volts is wrong.

Equation is square root of the product: (power x resistance). Have to first multiply watts times ohms, then take square root of that product. In the example, voltage should be square root of 270 (which is ~18).

Wrong answer of 27volts was derived by taking square root of power (100) then multiplying resistance (2.7).

Those Kappas will take 125-150 watts all day long. If you are still at this point in the conversation, just jumping up and down to set your gains with a DMM, 18v will get you 125 watts and 20v will get you 150 watts. Finish it by ear!!!!!!! Do not set with DMM and leave it there.
