I don’t see it as hijacking Hoyt, the more discussion the better. No worries.
I have a set of 6.5s built by a local guy and they sound damn good but get a little fuzzy at highway speeds. The PRVs are higher and clearer but the highs hurt my ears, which is why I like the other ones. They’re warmer and produce a thump as opposed to the punch from the PRVs
I picked up up a set of the DD VO6.5 thinking they would a good quality set and bridge the gap.
I am am thinking a dedicated amp for my tweeters and a DSP would help the PRVs greatly. Probably do well for any speaker I go with really.
Do the DD VO6.5s fit in the lowers without modification?
Thanks for the confirmation on the PRVs. I do have two quick questions though. They look a little squared around the edges. Do they fit the lowers without grinding? Also to give them some water resistance, would you spray them with Camp Dry or something like that?
Might keep an eye out on the buy sell trade forum for a used set to tinker with one day.
The VO 6,5 needed some grinder work on the long round high spot inside my HD lower pods, and a small spacer made out of dynamat, because the frame wouldn't sit quite flush!

Hey Mike I wonder if the frame issue is what a few of us faced with the updated AD CX62s. The basket would contact the speaker hole before seating so we wallered it out with a Dremel tool and a sanding wheel like this:
Do you think that would allow them to seat properly?

No, the problem was the magnet was to big if I remember (was a while ago) and hit that long round high spot on the left (in the picture). I had to grind the high spot off that! I would put a little white latex paint on it (the high spot) and see where the magnet was hitting. Once I got it to drop in, the frame would not sit flush on the recessed lip ( it would rock a bit) so I made a round spacer out of some dynamat, to sit on the lip of the pod! Your problem with the basket was different.
