A little off topic... but I have been using RTA Analyzer and Sound Spectrum Analyzer to EQ systems in bars, frat houses, wedding venues, and churches for the last 5 years or so and they do a bang up job! Great FREE tools for getting a system to sound good!

That^^^^^^^^^

It's just a great little feedback tool that guys should be leveraging in some regard. It's not gonna guide u to the perfect tune but it's gonna provide some damn helpful feedback.

Just one of the endless details as we try and raise the sled audio bar for us commoners.

Parts express sells an external cell phone mic for ~$16. that works with some of those apps.

They also sell an 8 channel DSP for ~ $150. + $30 for the BT dongle if you want it. I bought one , but haven't had the time to check it out.

Just curious..... those who are using RTA's or FFT Spectrum Analyzers..... y'all using Pink Noise to set a baseline for your system? Then fine tuning with some program music of choice?

Yes if you are going to use an RTA or Spectrum analyzer you will want to run Pink Noise thru the system to see what frequencies are boosted or lacking.

What r ur guys thoughts on slope?

On the HPF side i seen to get better performance from the speaker at no less than a 12, 18 or even 24. Seem to be able to set a lower crossover freq within the speakers capability with a fairly steep slope. 6 is no bueno.

On the LPF, most speakers will naturally roll off at 12 thus as long as the LPF freq I select does not allow freqs that are outside the speakers wheelhouse then a 6 or 12 seems to work for me. If I'm overlapping w a tweeter/Horn this seems to work well for overlap but could be totally wrong here as some folks try and setup a pretty defined transition or gap. Maybe not so much with a woof and tweet but more so w a sub to mid bass to mid range.

Thoughts?

I am interested in the miniDSP and have emailed them a few questions. It looks like it is just the right size to fit under my head unit beside the CB module. They list a 12V miniDC Isolator for 12v power which looks to be similar in function to a PAC TR-4.

I am torn between getting one of these and saving up for another RF TM400x4ad to replace the SoundStream PN4.1000d with in the fairing. The EQ control would do what I want with the Motos in the fairing and I could just get a set of Harrison Labs FMODS to cap the high frequencies going to the Mmats in the lowers:
Harrison Labs

I have used FMODS before in my truck and they do exactly what they claim with zero noise introduced. I just don't know if the 6.5KHz part will be low enough for the Mmats. Right now they are not capped at all so I figure it couldn't hurt.

????????
