Default Pold MM691 crossover question

Howdy all,

I just put in a set of Polk MM691s in my lids (many thanks to @Ron D 33 ). They sound really good powered by the RF TM400x4ad. I was looking in the manual and it says their frequency response is 30Hz to 25KHz. Since they are 6x9s should I still set the crossover to about 80Hz to protect them? I tinkered with full pass and high pass set to 80Hz and couldn't tell much difference.

What y'all say?

The speaker may play down to 30 hz but may only have an output of 40db at that frequency.

Try to find out what the suggest crossover and start your tuning there.
When you are tuning you will hear the speaker start to take a knee when you get outside it happy playing are.

I would suggest staying in the 80hz range on the hp crossover unless you can find a frequency graph to actually find out at what freq the speaker starts dropping off.

After riding a couple of hours today I think 80Hz will work. I was wondering where to stick the crossovers but they fit in the lids under the strap with some good velcro.

Speaking of the crossovers, has anyone tried removing it and just running a dedicated channel to the woofer and another one to the tweeters? Does that give any more sound or better sound than just using the crossover?

BTW there is one problem with these speakers that I think Polk should address. When you pick up a six pack of bottled beverages the speaker magnet hits the top of the bottles. That is a serious design flaw.

That definitely needs to be addressed. Speakers should NOT hit the top of your beer
