Default Rockford TMS69 crossover point

Howdy all,

I got to thinking I haven't really looked into the crossover point I should set my TMS69 speakers at. The spec sheet says 56 Hz on the low end so I set them at 80 Hz.

Do y'all think that is about right?

I think you should cross them where they sound the best. Xover dials on amps aren’t exact so unless you have a dsp your guessing, so set it where they sound the best. Xover points also vary a lot depending on power applied.

Hoyt,
As a general rule of thumb u r correct in that 80 is a pretty good place to be crossing a full range speak on a sled. The goal is to get some respectable non-distorted mid-bass while capitalizing on the volume levels, mids and highs required on a sled. The lower end distortion is damn near always the limiting factor. As ITW stated, it's damn tuff to nail a specific # on a gain dial but 80 is a good place to start. Some speakers ears and riding styles like 80 and other may like 95-100. Tinker with it and adjust after a few road tests. I generally tune to 50mph vs parked thus ur gonna get good at popping the hood after a few rides & road trips, till u get a DSP of course.

One thing at a time. I'm still tweaking the fade/balance between the four sets of speakers and with my limited gray matter I like doing that while moving to see what I like.
