I used the jarz pods so no holes were made on the inner fairing as once you drill holes out, you can never go back. I can take these out and go back to stock mirrors with no problems. It may not be for everyone but I like it and the bema horns.
I think space constraints on the pre-rushmore bikes may determine if we can grill mount horns or not. On the Rushmore bikes. the center of the grill is the center of the woofer cone, giving you max depth for cone movement, on pre-Rushmore, our adapters force the woofers to sit off center from the grill, placing the back side of the horn too close to the woofer cone...if that makes any sense.

Just my experience

Totally agree brother. Thus the gauge holes come into play pre rush. For Rushmore the fuel & electricity gauges are rumored to be somewhat significant.

Lots of options to consider as folks plan their individual builds.

I do believe with the depth of the ast 50's only being about 1.25" they can be mounted in the grill of a pre-rushmore bike as the adaptors set the woofer back much more than that. I have not tried it but giving what I have used before in a pre-rushmore and the size of these horns, I do believe they will work in the grill.
